Her expression is neutral, neither coy nor confrontational, as she offers her nude form in elegant shapes and an expanse of soft texture. And this is rare. Often, nude photography feels hard and impersonal with bodies gleaming in hard light, slick and angular, rendering nakedness as stiff as architecture. Flora’s nakedness feels human and exquisitely feminine. Her skin begs to be touched.
Flora describes her own nudity as one of innocence and sensuality, and it’s true - there’s nothing aggressively sexual about her images. And maybe there’s something to be learned in that, this warm place between sterility and sex.
