What would you recommend for travel? Is it legal to traffic with sex toys?


Is it legal? Sure. Well, most places.

Common sense: don’t pack sex toys on trips to conservative countries where women are stoned for kissing and couples are arrested for pre-marital hand-holding. My own gauge: if I’m traveling to a country (or state) where sex toys are sold, then it should be legal to carry bag full of them.

I’ve traveled extensively with a wide array of sex toys and I’ve never had a problem. Usually, I pass from country to country with undetected dildos, but sometimes your bags - including your checked bags - are hand searched in front of you, especially on some international flights. In those cases, a spontaneous discovery of a dildo cache just embarrasses the security agent. A few times, the search was finished the moment he accidentally grasped a dildo, which was nice. So I guess the key here is to not give a fuck. Let them fondle your sex toys. They’ll be far more embarrassed than you are.

Keep your toys in your checked baggage, just in case your toys are construed as weapons. I’m not sure how they could mistake a vibrator for a bomb, but you don’t want to risk losing a pricey sex toy to the whims of the TSA.

If you’re traveling with vibrators, remove the batteries so it doesn’t turn on by accident. Some vibrators don’t have removable batteries - fortunately, those aren’t easily activated by jostling. Also, remember to bring adapters. Most high-end sex toys are travel ready, so you shouldn’t need a converter for international voltage, but you will need a adapter. (When I purchased a Lelo in London, it came with international adapters.)
